Today, we want to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the intricate process that goes into creating these beautiful stands.
Step 1: Perfecting the Mix
The journey of our plant propagation stands begins with the concrete mix. It took us weeks of testing to finally perfect the proper ratios to achieve a good pour every time. The concrete has to be viscous enough to flow into our silicone molds without trapping air bubbles inside. This is crucial to ensure the structural integrity of the stands.
Step 2: Finding the Right Pigment
Next, we had to find the right pigment for our stands. This was no easy feat, as many of the colors we tested compromised the structural quality of the stands. After countless trials and errors, we finally found a pigment that not only looked great but also maintained the build quality we strive for.
We chose to use pigment in the cement rather than painting the propagation stands. This was an important decision for us, as we wanted our stands to last a long time without the worry of paint chipping off.
Step 3: The Pouring Process
Once we have our perfect mix and pigment, we double-check to make sure the table is leveled before pouring a few molds at a time. This ensures that each stand looks great and meets our high standards. After waiting about 12 hours, the silicone is removed, and we let the stands cure for another 12 hours.
Step 4: Ensuring Stability
Although the pours look great, they aren't always perfectly stable. To ensure they don't tip over, each stand is inspected and sanded flat on the bottoms. This is also the time when we inspect the edges. Depending on the design, the edges may be beveled during this step.

Each stand takes days to make, but we believe it is worth it. Creating high-quality artisan products is very important to us, and no shortcuts are taken.
